Paul McKenna Changed My Life in Seven Days-ish.

Paul McKenna is not the reason I write. But I totally blame him for why I am obsessed!

It all began back in 2006 when I was having a bit of a bad time of it for one reason or another. So I bought Paul McKenna’s book, Change your life in seven days. It didn’t. Well not in seven days anyway. But I’m convinced he hypnotised me.

Mr McKenna says on his CD, (and I won’t use his exact words, because when he pops over to read my blog, he may sue me for stealing his copyright) but to sort of paraphrase him, he says, ‘You can do whatever you want with your life, if you are determined enough.’ And he says too (and I’m paraphrasing again) that if you listen to his disc over and over you will find the tools that will help you fulfil your dream.

So I decided to listen to his CD over and over. And whilst doing so, I thought about my dream to write.

The outcome is this – I’m now obsessed with writing. And I really can’t stop, NOT NO HOW, NOT EVER. Now maybe this would have happened anyway. Gazillions of people get to this point and much, much further without the aid of Paul McKenna. But I do wonder whether, in my case, he played a part in my writing obsession!

Well I'm a sucker for anything like this. I bought that book years ago and never listened to the CD or read the book... My life hasn't changed apart from when Husband moved us to Bangkok!

I'd have thought about making money, then when I was a millionaire I'd pay someone else to ghost-write my ideas into novels.

Actually, I followed his "Paul McKenna Can Make You Thin" show and it certainly helped me, though "thin" might be stretching it. Not as much as I stretch my clothes, but you get the idea.

I thought it was interesting when I found out that "Russell Brand" is a bit of a Paul McKenna devotee, as well as a friend. Apparently he phones him up before big gigs for a bit of positive mental hypnotism.

And I thought I was the only one with a guilty secret! My CD is cheesily American and specifc to writing but I put it on when I'm feeling particularly stressed, sit quietly in a comfy spot with noone around and listen. Well, actually I don't really listen I sort of fall asleep (hypnotised if you like) and when I 'wake up' 20 mins later I feel refreshed and ready to go back to my desk.
Incidently, a friend gave me the CD after I'd had just two small pieces published so I definitely believe it helps me.

I loved his book and listened to his CD quite a bit for a while.

If it's been this good for you, I'm going to dig it out again. I quite like his voice anyway, so it won't be a hardship.

I adore Paul McKenna - when I win the lottery, top of the list is a private coaching session with the man.

I quite love Paul McKenna - at the end of my ECA, the two main characters had just met in a bookshop and were contemplating being email 'Change Your Life' buddies. Oh God.
